The final 4 games will tell us a lot...
about the team's attitude. After a road game at Notre Dame (#13 RPI, #28 ranking), we have our last 3 games at Thompson Field. UNC (#3 RPI, #5 ranking) is most likely a loss. Even when we had Top 25 teams, that game normally resulted in a loss. The NC State (#40 RPI, #34 ranking) and Syracuse (#74 RPI, N/R) are winnable games. A win over NC State would be a slight upset. Chugger continues to wait for his offense to come together but at this point in the season, what you see is what you have.
Tech played a competitive first 45 minutes but as the weather deteriorated, so did our defense and our confidence. Clemson took our spot in the ACC pecking order last season. NC State is doing the same to us this season unless we find a way to score a few goals and win. As we all know, goals are hard to come by this season. My hope is just to see the team give 90+ competitive and smart minutes for each of the remaining 4 games. I know that our offensive woes are frustrating to Chugger and his staff, but maybe that is because our past 3-4 recruiting classes just aren't as talented offensively as the NCAA tourney bound classes. I agree that Chugger will have more pressure on him to get back into the NCAA's next season. I think we're almost there (NCAA playoffs) defensively but our offense is another story.
